School is out but that doesn't mean the work stops!
June 6 might have been the last day of school for many students and staff members, but work doesn't stop in SMBSD! There are 28 summertime programs at various schools, including Summer School, Kinder Bridge, AVID Excel, and Special Education programs. Some of them start as early as June 10.
That doesn't even include more than two dozen teacher workshops that will be held over the break and special summer field trips many students will take, such as visiting Cal Poly Pomona for STEM lessons, UCSB's Algebra Camp, and the Mini-Corps Outdoor Education Program at Camp Keep Ocean.
There are also thousands of new Social Studies books and classroom materials that have to be inventoried, bar coded and sent out to schools to be ready for students and teachers on the first day of school on August 12.
The district office is busy getting supplies ready for summer learning programs at the schools, distributing textbooks, and ordering materials so students can have all the tools they need on the very first day.
